Lovers Curse

I was not a werewolf

Until I met you

You met me, bit me

Tended to the bloodied wounds

You gave me

I heard you say look at that

Red full moon

Look at that red full moon

Red full moon

Red full moon

Until all I could do was

Look at that red full moon

And when I came to you with

matted fur

You said it's just

A lovers curse

And when I grew claws

You told me we would

Make it work

My teeth grew sharp

Just like my words

You said, "I see it hurts, it hurts;

Just try a little harder

To make it work,"

I could not

Fill the ache within

No matter what I tried

And picking red

Berry spheres

Attempting to keep

You fed

The crimson

Brought to mind

The only thing that could suffice

A starving wolfs'

Appetite

And I bare my sharp teeth and

Weapon claws

And end the man who

Starts it all

I was not a werewolf when

It all began

Now my bloodied mouth

Threatens to snap

I am not a creature for a pack

Get too close, claws will scratch

Now the woods are haunted and

You hear echoed screams

Do not bother to ask if you hear

Him or me

I deeply love this piece. It may be heavily cliche and the metaphors may be obvious or overdone, but perhaps that contributes to the beauty.
